Christmas Lighting 2015 - Rest of the Town Area

These are the Christmas Lightings for 2015 in the heart of Town. Enjoy the photos folks!

Seems a little late to post this especially when Christmas is over! (in fact it's already 2016) So I'm gonna combine my rest of town area shots in this post.

First, we have the lightings at Paragon. I finally found my sweet spot for Paragon. Always disappointed with my shots for Paragon due to the space constraints. I've added their key statues as subjects into the shot and it's getting better :)

Next, we have the decorations at Grand Park Orchard. This is sort of the limited edition collection! Why? It's because the tree went ablaze a few days after I took the shot. This is what is left of it.

One of my favourite decorations this year is the one at 313@Somerset. Love the blue tree and decoration with tones of pink, light blue and purple star fishes. Yup! It's marine theme this year for 313@Somerset. I was hopping a mermaid santarina would pop out and blow me a kiss =\ (yeah in my dreams!)

Next up, Mandarin Gallery! Similar feel as 2014. I'm not sure if it's just me but it gives a "metallica" feel. The feel of heavy metals and sci-fi! Well at least it's red this year.

I love the decorations at Orchard Gateway. It's way better than those stick figures back in 2014! Actually, Orchard Gateway has the best spot! The area is big enough to let the crowd gather during "snow" hours. Furthermore, the snowman and ice palace looks kind of cool with the changing neon lights. Good job Orchard Gateway!

Orchard Central's decorations has its standard too. It always gives a fairy-like feel. Due to space constraints, the area's always jammed with ever-flowing people trying to take a shot. I guess they're enjoying much! We can tell! (Nice pose girl. Haha! )

Last but not least, we have the decorations at Plaza Singapura. As usual, nothing fancy just plain old hanging lights among the tress. We got the trees yo~

Christmas Lighting 2015 - TANGS

Rosy red Christmas at TANGS!! Christmas trees and "my little ponies" on sales.

This year for Christmas, TANGS's filled with passion and presenting to you the RED Christmas. As usual, TANGS have their hanging decorations along the passage that leads to the entrance.

At the entrance of TANGS, they sold some Christmas trees products. I noticed this "3 ponies" and decided to test out my bokeh shot. Results was quite good! Bokeh circles in the background and sharp "ponies"!

Christmas Lighting 2015 - Takashimaya

Huge tree for Christmas at Takashimaya.
It stands 3 floors high!

One of the most challenging shot I faced among the Christmas lightings in Orchard area is the Christmas tree in Takashimaya. The tree is tall and the space is limited. The busy crowd makes things worst.

This year, I managed to find a sweet spot this year. I made use of the curves from the wall making a leading line to the Christmas Tree. I also frame it such that the tree is at the last 3rd of the photo.

With such a beautiful and densely decorated tree, making a close up shot would most probably give you good results.

Christmas Lighting 2015 - ION Orchard

Blink blink this Christmas at ION Orchard. Christmas tree, reindeers, snowman and more!

This year, a Swarovski Christmas tree stood tall outside ION Orchard. It brightens the area and brings up the festive mood. There's also an event area near the LV Shop. The place was decorated with snowman, reindeers and a sleigh.

At certain times of the night, bubbles were shot out making the place more romantic. Children who were queuing for the merry-go-round starting following the bubbles and bursting them.

Christmas Lighting 2014 - Jurong Point

A blink of an eye and Christmas is coming! Welcome to Jurong Point~

Jurong Point has impressive Christmas tree. I love the spiral lights that wraps around the tree. Toys soldiers guard the tree while citizens party around the tree.

I like the big Christmas wreath that hangs from the celling inside the shopping centre. On it sat a lazy teddy bear with gift boxes. Finally, Uniqulo (One of my most patronized stalls) has moved into Jurong Point.

It's just a few days more to Christmas. Have you made your plans yet? What shall I do for Christmas? Oh well~ I'm been caught the "LAZY" disease from the bear. Enjoy folks =)

Christmas Lighting 2014 - AMK Hub

A blink of an eye and Christmas is coming! It's getting candylicious around the vicinity of AMK.

AMK Hub is giving a sweet Christmas to its visitor. The mall has turned into a "Candyland". Cup cakes, tea pots and lollipops are the decorations used around and inside the mall.

This is a prefect situation for the bokeh light effects shot I'm trying to master. With only a 35mm prime lens I need to get real close to my subjects (lollipops) which I could. And of course, there's got to be small light sources (Christmas lighting) behind my subject. I'm satisfied with the results that I got!

More candies to be shown. Even Captain America can't resist the temptation of sweets. "Time for some candy crushing~" =)

Lastly, a picture of the tea pot. It seems like the light for the tea is broken! Oh mine~ Mad hatter would be really mad if he finds out about this!

Christmas Lighting 2014 - CentrePoint

A blink of an eye and Christmas is coming! Orchard road is magically lit up to welcome the festive season.

CentrePoint has the theme of Christmas in Paris. A smaller version of the Eiffel Tower is located right at the exterior of the mall. Going peach, gold, yellow contrasting against the white and black is a great combination!

The surrounding pathways are decorated with colourful flowers and cute plushies. This attracted quite a number of visitors and shutterbugs (like myself). There's also a tiny dome filled with flowers where visitors queued orderly for a photo to be taken against it.

Isn't it great that "Paris" has came to Singapore?

Christmas Lighting 2014 - Orchard Central

A blink of an eye and Christmas is coming! Orchard road is magically lit up to welcome the festive season.

In my opinion, Orchard Central has the best decorations in Town area. It creates a bright pink Christmas featuring fairy tales!

Just stepping in the pathway towards Orchard Central, I was taken by the design. A tall Christmas tree stood on top of an underpass where visitors take photos from inside it.

I love the whole feel that gels up the atmosphere. The sparking pink stars, the pink and golden ornaments decorated entrances. This definitely brings up the mood!

Ponies, tree of life, these are the ingredients use to portray a magical Christmas. Here's my 2nd attempt to make bokeh light balls.

Christmas Lighting 2014 - Orchard Gateway

A blink of an eye and Christmas is coming! Orchard road is magically lit up to welcome the festive season.

Orchard Gateway has the simplest design I've seen so far. An LED panel with the word "merry christmas" is placed on top of a scaffolding surrounded by the mall's icon, human figures.

I did more of editing to this picture. I brought up the highlights so that the words are brighter. Darken the shadows greatly to create the silhouette of the walking crowd. Enjoy folks!

Christmas Lighting 2014 - 313 Somerset

A blink of an eye and Christmas is coming! Orchard road is magically lit up to welcome the festive season.

313somerset uses purple for its Christmas decoration to match its logo. A toy soldier welcomes you into a simple cabin. A beautiful Christmas tree stands on top of it. This cabin is actually a shop that sells Christmas items.

Right behind the cabin, along the stretch of bars, the plants are decorated with purple ornaments and bright magenta lights. The pathway is having some construction going on. Thus, it is a little squeezy.

Christmas Lighting 2014 - Mandarin Gallery

A blink of an eye and Christmas is coming! Orchard road is magically lit up to welcome the festive season.

Mandarin Gallery, the stretch between 313 and Takashimaya is lighted up with electric red and electric blue resembling some kind of futuristic planet (without aliens). The pillars and walk ways are decorated with a huge bunch of golden ribbons and blinking led stars.

As you see "humans" are stopping by and getting a picture with this "defensive weapon system". Haha! Anyways, it does look pretty cool and has its own kind of style!

I always have trouble finding the Christmas tree at Takashimaya. This tree stands 3 floors high. It is decorated with red, white gift boxes and gold ornaments.

Christmas Lighting 2014 - Orchard Ion

A blink of an eye and Christmas is coming! Orchard road is magically lit up to welcome the festive season.

At Orchard Ion, a tall Christmas tree stands at the same sweet spot. When I was there, it was drizzling and visitors weren't allowed into the tree. Therefore, I stood around trying to capture a shot.

Each shot, I try to capture the shopping centre's name if not, it's prime features with the Christmas decoration used. For Ion, the luxury shops with the bright and large LCDs are its main features.

Ion uses white and red for its Christmas decoration. Candy canes, ornaments and snowman plushies are hang on the tree topped with a bright red star.
