Thailand Trip 2016 - Pai - Pai Cat Hut

Sunday, May 1, 2016 at 23:39      No comments

Thailand Trip 2016. First stop, Pai, a small town in northern Thailand's Mae Hong Son Province.

I had a few hours of flights before transiting to a mini van and another 3 hours ride up to Pai. The road up to Pai is windy with 762 curves. The view's amazing and I managed to catch the sunset on my way up.

Below is the hostel I stayed. The host is friendly and the room's clean. Pai Cat Hut is 5 minutes walk from Pai Walking Street. It's a plus if you know how to ride a bike. Traveling around Pai on a bike helps a whole lot. Too bad, I didn't know how to ride one.

There's a common area outside the huts for us to chill and relax. You may want to lie on the wooden hammock and read a book or play with the cat in this hut. It's a beautiful place to take a break from the busy city life.

There's this interesting rack of unbloomed orchids outside the hut. The orchids grew in home-made pots made from coconut husks. A wire strung through the husks allows it to be hang on the rack. It would be definitely beautiful if the orchids are bloomed.

Every morning, the workers here would sweep up all the fallen leaves and pile them up by this rustic tent by the hut. The equipments are placed neatly in the tent.

It's cost saving staying in hostels. I stayed in a room for 6 with a common washroom and it cost me $6 a night! Plus, you get to meet people from all over the world!

Bangkok Trip 2014 - Boxpackers Hostel

Tuesday, June 17, 2014 at 21:32      No comments

Boxpackers Hostel provides all the daily necessities I needed. It is strategically located and is cheap! The right place if you're gonna stay alone.

Boxpackers Hostel is located near Pratunam area in between the vicinity of Ratchathewi and Phaya Thai. It's located near the shopping heaven; fashion Platinum Fashion Mall and Pratunam markets. Boxpackers Hostel is within walking distances from the 2 BTS stations. It takes around 10 - 15mins walking duration.

Box packer hostel provides the following:

For Bedding: A pillow, a huge cushion for you to lean against while sitting, a blanket and of course a bed.

For Showering: A towel. I've stayed in a 10 person dome. It is equipped with 2 toilet bowls and 2 shower rooms to share among us. Shampoo and body foam are provided too! I've not experienced "fighting" for toilet facilities during my 5 days of stay so shouldn't be much of an issue.

There are other facilities like a common area with a washing machine, a long dinning table, a sink sink for washing and free water dispenser with hot and cold water. There are some books, board games and a Play Station 2 with an LED TV to keep you entertained.

It's my first time staying in a hostel. Personally, I feel that it's much better than staying alone in a posh hotel facing the cold walls. Instead, you can strike occasional conversations with your roommates and meet new acquaintances. Furthermore, it's cheaper! Cheers!
