I passed by this beautiful structure along AYE and had always wanted to visit it. I did my research and started my exploration.
I came across George's Blog and it provided me the information I needed. The flyover is near Pandan River PCN. Since the blog gave directions to my destination through park connectors, I decided to take up the challenge and take a long walk down.
I started my exploration right in front of Bukit Batok East Community Center. To get there, take bus 173 from Bukit Batok bus terminal. Alight at the stop BLK 254 (43169 is the bus stop reference).
Walk towards block 254 and you should see a park connector track. Facing block 254, turn left and continue along the park connector.
You will be greeted by the 12 zodiac at Bukit Batok East Gardens. At the end of the park connector, turn left and continue heading straight. There's a central market near by. Go on and you find a sign board pointing directions for Keming Primary.
After walking a distance, you should see Keming Primary School. Walk along the park connector across Keming Primary School (cross the road).
The route transits you from the bustle neighborhood into the quiet industrial area of Bukit Batok.
The area has quite a number of joggers, cyclists and foreign workers. It's quite a distance towards Boon Lay Way. So take your time enjoy the scenery and the quietness.
Cross the PIE Flyover and head towards Boon Lay Way. The bougainvilleas up here blooms perfectly; petals in good shape and vibrant in colour. Can't help it but spent some time taking a shot of them.
Proceed on towards the very end of the of the track. There it is.. (actually you can't see the track) Oh well~ Just continue walking :)
Finally, after a long walk, you reached a road (Boon Lay Way). Cross the road using the traffic light and head towards the AYE (we're almost there).
Here, we find big companies of the Jurong Business Park and do note that the whole area has high pressure gas pipes laid underneath (BBQ pit =x).
Finally, we reached the magnificent flyover! I love the beautiful swirls! This flyover is made special for cyclists. It is divided into 3 paths. For cyclists, joggers and walkers? (not those in The Walking Dead haha) Can't remember the last one though.
Since I have the energy and time to spare, I continued on towards West Coast Road. Right at the bottom of the flyover, there's a temple next to Sungei Pandan.
Continue the whole stretch of road and you've reached West Coast Road. From here, you are able to get to West Coast Park or Clementi Woods Park. Both are around 2plus kilometers far. Pandan Reservoir is just across the road if I'm not mistaken.
At this juncture, I'm pretty drained. However, I decided to push myself! I set my target at Clementi Woods Park (As I know from there, we are able to trek towards the Southern Ridges. Hort Park -> Henderson Wave -> Fort Canning
I had a toilet break here and find my way to a bus stop. I ended up across School of Design & Environment NUS. I ended my tour.
Be prepared if you're going that long a distance. Have sufficient water and hydrate yourself regularly. I brought along a poncho and umbrella in case of bad weather.
Hope you enjoy the exploration folks!
