Sungai Lembing is a humble small town located 42 km northwest of Kuantan in Pahang, Malaysia.
During non-peak seasons, Sungai Lembing is very quiet. You could hardly spot any visitors around and many of the shops are closed. However, the villagers there are very friendly. Say "Hi" to them and they might strike a conversation with you or even invite you to their homes for drinks.
When I first alighted from Rapid Kuntan 500 at Sungai Lembing, I can't help but notice this tall huge tree with a thick trunk. So, I took a few shots of it. It was later that I found out that this is the century old tree at Sungai Lembing.
Walking on the streets of Sungai Lembing seems different from Singapore. Shophouses and homes "grows" horizontally. There're no high-rise building in the small village unlike the bustle Singapore city. I found something interesting! A mini petrol kiosk sits in the middle of the road between the shophouses.
The photo below shows a Convenience Store which sells daily necessities. The shop owner here is very friendly! He helped me contacted the owner of the guesthouse that I'm supposed to stay in. Not only that, he went on further, offering me a seat and we had a small chat.
Though Sungai Lembing is a small town, they had the necessary amenities. There's a mosque near the entrance of the town. Towards the middle, you find a police station on top of a knoll.
At the road that leads to Panorama Hill, you find Sungai Lembing library that is built since 1968 and the Chinese school that is established since 1939.
Lastly, I will end of with my favorite picture on the streets of Sungai Lembing. It's my first time traveling solo to an oversea town by public transport. It did saved me much money! But do be careful and think thoroughly before doing this. Safety is important!
It is also my first time experiencing a black out in the middle of the shower! The worse thing is the water is generated by electric pumps and I'm "soaped". Thankfully, electricity comes back on after some time!
Do visit Sungai Lembing folks! Good nights~
