In Sungai Lembing, you must visit the rainbow waterfall! If you haven't been there, you haven't been to Sungai Lembing!
You can catch beautiful sunrise in Sungai Lembing. I came to Sungai Lembing because of it's rainbow waterfall. I was shown a photo of it and I told myself, I did visit it one day.. and here I am =)
As early as 5 in the morning, the driver drove me to their hawker centre for breakfast and tea. Thereafter, I met up with another group of visitors and we made our way up to the waterfall through the four-wheel drive.
We were driven up a knoll and waited in the dark for the sun to rise. We waited a good 15 to 20 minutes till the sky brightens up but the sun couldn't be seen. The clouds were blocking the sun. Reluctantly, we left for the rainbow waterfall.
Fortunately, along the road towards the waterfall, we saw the sun! The driver was nice enough to stop for a short while. We whipped out our cameras and starting shooting right away. The location is prefect! Unkempt grasses, warm rising sun and the winding river. I'm so close to natural!
We're halfway to our destination. This is as far as the car could take us. We crossed a stream and gotten our shoes soaked! The locals here possess the skill of rock stacking. That explains some rocks piling up on top of the other in the photo below.
This is the most challenging part of the journey! We scaled up the hill excitedly. It gets steeper and rockier as we proceed higher. We noticed a small stream and we knew we were near! Exhausted, we pulled ourselves together and climbed the last bit before reaching the top!
Finally, we saw the rainbow waterfall. I was told this place was discovered as early as 1970s by mountain climbers. They noticed that the rainbow appears daily at certain times of the day. Words spread and slowly, this place is 'crawling' with visitors.
The rainbow waterfall is magnificent! Too bad the water was not heavy enough. Thus, the rainbow was faint and small. Do take note that the journey up is quite tough. Be prepared for lots of climbing! There are little safety ropes and man made stairs to aid you.
Nevertheless, I felt that it's worth it! Have a dip, relax yourself and don't forget to keep the place clean.
Feel free to PM me if you need contacts. I think I do kept some of their name cards. Enjoy folks =)
