Weekend Feast in JB

Monday, June 15, 2015 at 22:20      No comments

Spent my last weekend shopping and having Seafood in Johor Bahru! Despite the long queue, everything seems ok!

We queued for a good 2 hrs before getting pass custom into Johor Bahru. We were all famished and headed to Sushi Zanmai at JBCC. Food was quite good actually. I had cold soba to avoid more calories intake later on in the evening where we will eat seafood! We also shared some delicious sushi!

We shopped in KSL, had coffee before heading over to Da Ma Hua Yuan (Taman Seri Tebrau) for dinner. We patronized the first stall, Xiang Ji. Food's not too bad but not fantastic either. Their sambal sauce was fairly good and the cereal prawns and deer meat to me was below average.

The crayfish was good! The sauce can be richer though! The chicken soup tasted weird. It's too sour for comfort and we get a refund for it after complaining about it.

All in all, we spent a total of 139.60 RM ($50.02) for seafood! It is seriously cheap! It is definitely worth having seafood here again.

Bangkok Trip 2014 - T&K Seafood

Saturday, June 28, 2014 at 17:57      No comments

One of the must eat in Thailand is Seafood! First of all, their price is cheap and their seafood is fresh!

When it comes to seafood in Bangkok, most of the bloggers out that recommended T&K Seafood in Chinatown. It is really hard trying to get a cab to get to T&K Seafood. Many of the cab drivers are reluctant to bring us to Chinatown due to the heavy jam. Anyway the fare is to T&K Seafood from Pratunam area is around 150 Baht.

Do spot the employees of T&K Seafood. They wear green tees to differentiate from their competitors who wore pink shirts. I sat on the upper deck of T&K Seafood where there's air-conditioning. Do not expect too high on the hygiene of the place. Most important of all is good edible safe food, right?

First, the shark's fin soup is good! I think it's from real sharks and nowadays it's hard to get one in Singapore. Anyway I don't really recommend the cruel killing of sharks but well, the soup is GOOD!

I love the chilli gravy of this dish. It reminds me of my dad's chilli crab. It is super similar!! The gravy is spicy, sweet and salty at the same time. There are just 4 prawns but they are fresh and juicy.

Super love the sauce of this dish. It's super appetising. It tasted sour and spicy due to the chopped chilli. The garlic and ginger brings up more flavour to the sauce. The squid is well cooked not being rubbery and hard. The dish is kept warm with a small flame of wax underneath it.

The next dish is a must try of T&K Seafood. The Steamed Crab with Glass Noodles is amazing! The glass noodles are chewy, seasoned with some sweet brown sauce and the sweetness of crab seeps into the noodles as it is steamed together with it. The crab is dissected to ease eating. The only thing I dislike would be the small pieces of shells that sits in the noodles.

After a hearty meal, take a stroll along Chinatown and enjoy the night lights while digesting your food. That's all folks! Please try out T&K Seafood!!! I guarantee that you would not regret it.
