Finally, a library was built at Orchard! library@orchard carries the largest public library collection on design and applied arts.

This two storeys library in Orchard Gateway was built around the theme "Design is for Everyone". It's open on 23th Oct 2014. Upon seeing the photos on the newspaper, I definitely want to take visit this library.

When I reached the library, I was wondering if I entered an art museum or gallery. The library was well designed! Magazine covers filled the left side and the right, some plain wall with punchy exhibitions.

At the right side of the entrances, there are a few monitors which are catered for reading the news. Hence, I named this area iNews corner (everything starts with an i nowadays HAHA).

The magazine's corner is what I love most about the library. Very stylish - Simple white background with the featured magazine cover as design. These are actually cabinets that holds magazines. These cabinets are modified with their left sides removed so as to allow readers to grab the magazine easily. This definitely save spaces but I have my doubts on the weight it can hold.

In the library, there are some exhibitions featuring Orchard. The history of how Orchard is today. Do take a look folks!

The first storey holds mostly fictions books. Super love the design! Wood, white and lightings! There are lights are the top of each shelves. These are not only designs but to aid vision too. There are huge category headings to indicate which genres of books each sector has.

Personally, design wise was excellent! However, the seats at the 2nd floor are limited. There is a "share" area at the ground floor where readers sat. Also near the magazine's area, there is quite a number of seats but still, it is packed! Finally, got a free of charge place where I can slack in town while waiting for friends or rest my feet after window shopping around!
